"I am very aware that, as the common agricultural policy is the only policy with a truly Community economic dimension, the legislation that we will decide on together at EU level will have a far-reaching impact, right down to the farmers. We therefore have to take into account the wide-ranging diversity of the 27 Member States – this is the first time that a CAP reform has involved 27 Member States – and indeed, right up to the end of the decision-making process, we will have to sit down around a table several times. Nevertheless, I think that we have already got off to a good start with a number of legislative proposals under codecision in the common agricultural policy, including the proposals on milk that you have been leading, and I believe that that experience will help us in early 2012 to harmonise the proposals put forward by the Commission.
I am therefore aware of this and we will sit down around a table as often as necessary."@en1
