In recent years, the misuse of antimicrobial medicines has increased the number and variety of resistant micro-organisms. We face the risk of some diseases becoming uncontrollable, and we must therefore act as quickly as possible to promote ‘responsible use’ initiatives and invest in the research and development of new antimicrobial agents and alternatives, but also give the necessary attention to livestock farming methods – another source of the development of human resistance to medicines."@en1
