lpv:translated text	"The sexual abuse and exploitation of children is a social plague that is not only a serious violation of fundamental rights, but is also characterised by the scant protection and care required for children’s well-being. Technology and breaking down the barriers of distance by using the Internet mean that this phenomenon can creep into daily life more easily, thus allowing this awful phenomenon to grow. In this light, harmonising Member States’ legislation on the sexual abuse and exploitation of children by treating the most serious forms of abuse as crimes is a key way to avoid its spreading further, I am voting in favour to ensure that measures are brought in to protect young victims."@en1
