lpv:translated text	"− I welcomed this document because the European Commission is seeking by means of this proposal to make progress in combating sexual abuse and sexual exploitation and the depiction of sexual acts involving persons under the age of 18 years. The proposal assumes that criminal offences in this area will increase, that the development of modern communications will exacerbate this problem and that the regulations in the EU Member States are neither tough enough nor coherent enough. This Directive establishes minimum rules concerning the definition of criminal offences and sanctions in the area of sexual abuse and sexual exploitation of children, child pornography and solicitation of children for sexual purposes. It also introduces provisions to strengthen the prevention of such crimes and the protection of victims. It is therefore necessary to improve the situation in this area. I also support the provisions under which legal persons would also be punishable."@en1
