The mandate of the European Ombudsman is to investigate complaints about the way in which the EU’s institutions are administered. There were 2 667 new complaints registered in 2010, with the Ombudsman succeeding in bringing 326 investigations to a conclusion, more than half of them with an amicable resolution. In its 15 years of existence, the office of the European Ombudsman has succeeded in gathering broad expertise in relation to the structural administrative weaknesses of the EU, enabling the Ombudsman to offer frequent support to the European Parliament and its work. I have voted in favour of this report."@en1
