I would like to congratulate the rapporteur on drafting this report. I agree with the statement in the report that, if we are to devise effective policies for employment, education and training and facilitate individuals’ career choices, we will need to improve the ability of the Member States and the Union to forecast and anticipate the nature of future skills and ensure that they are in line with labour market needs. In fact, that should be the touchstone of Union policy; in other words, seeking to adapt supply and demand to best serve the public. I voted in favour of the report for these reasons."@en1
