"According to forecasts from the International Labour Organisation and the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development, no fewer than 110 million jobs need to be created by 2015 in order for the G20 countries to return to pre-crisis levels. That means creating 22 million jobs each year. The Europe 2020 strategy aims to increase employment rates in the Member States from the current level to between 69% and 75% by 2020. This is one of the levers that Europe needs to use to avoid economic decline. Recovery is dependent on job creation and solidarity. In this context, in order to promote sustainable, green growth, the EU needs to focus particularly on SMEs, which are real growth drivers and generate 58% of added-value in the EU; on bringing more women into the labour market (only 30% of business owners are women); on integrating people with disabilities; on guaranteeing a flexible, inclusive and active labour market, and on improving research and innovation. We need to create sustainable growth for future generations, growth anchored in a competitive economy with international clout."@en1
