As I am convinced that the EU needs to redouble its efforts to stimulate growth and promote job creation, I voted in favour of the report by Ms Bastos. The ‘Agenda for New Skills and Jobs’ ties in with the Europe 2020 strategy, which aims to achieve 75% employment among European citizens aged 20 to 64 by 2020. Other aims include increasing workers’ qualifications, new training options and improving the way that the labour market operates – by reducing red tape for SMEs, for example – all of which will make the EU more competitive."@en1
