".
Outside the EU, Norway is our closest and most important cooperation partner in connection with the European satellite navigation systems (GNSS) GALILEO and EGNOS. This agreement governs the cooperation of the EU with Norway and Norway’s general rights and obligations, particularly with regard to security. As Norway has provided the GALILEO project with technical, political and financial support and is therefore closely involved in the structure of European satellite navigation, this agreement is intended to promote cooperation in the future, too.
Norway is home to two important earth stations, which are used to ensure the smooth operating of the system. That is why this agreement is essential. The European satellite system must remain part of Europe’s economic and research sphere in future, too, and Norway is contributing to this. I therefore voted in favour of this motion."@en1
