"Currently, five per cent of European females are single mothers, and 85% of all single parents in Europe are single mothers between the ages of 25 and 64. The current economic crisis has highlighted the hardships faced by single mothers across the EU.
I welcome the calls in this report for Member States to identify common policies through the exchange of best practices in Europe, and for measures to prevent and combat the risk of poverty and social exclusion for single mothers. I supported this report overall. However, I voted against Recital M because matters of sexual and reproductive rights are a responsibility of the Member States."@en1
