"In the report on global economic governance, the European Parliament expresses its view that discussions on a global financial transaction tax should be concluded ‘without further ado’. This is our opinion because we believe that the prerequisites for implementing such a tax are minimal and the risk of harmful effects is considerable. The sooner this tax is dropped as a solution to the problems of the global economy, the sooner these problems can be remedied by means of reforms targeted at the actual problems. There is no reason to allow this matter to continue to live on as if it were a solution to the major global problems that are discussed in the report."@en1
