"I voted for the report by Mr Kósa as it deals with various aspects to which I have also decided to give my personal commitment in order to help safeguard the rights of people with disabilities, even more so now that I have seen and witnessed their needs at first hand.
Generally speaking, I agree with the rapporteur’s approach, which is to propose the adoption of various concrete measures with the aim of achieving a sustainable society based on an approach rooted in the defence of human rights. However, at the same time, I believe that we need precise dates and deadlines in order to allow national implementation of the conventions adopted by the United Nations (Convention on the Rights of the Disabled and its additional protocols) and the European Union (European Disability Strategy and the EU 2020 strategy).
More specifically, among the key issues tackled in the report, I would like to underline the results achieved in the following areas: the production of vehicles compatible with the needs of people of reduced mobility; the production of electronic interfaces allowing better communication for disabled people; and help for families with a view to enabling the inclusion of children and young people with disabilities in the education system."@en1
