lpv:translated text	"I welcome this resolution because it is appropriate to extend the scope of the flexibility scheme. Most companies in the industrial sector have, above all, been badly hit by the global economic and financial crisis. Consequently, it will be particularly difficult for companies to implement the requirements provided for in the directive and which are currently being applied. To ensure that industry continues to develop and remains competitive, and in order to protect the environment, it is appropriate to apply flexibility measures until 2014 and facilitate market access for a set number of engines under the flexibility scheme. The implementation of these measures will mitigate the consequences of the current economic crisis as far as possible for engine and vehicle manufacturers and will maintain competitiveness and employment in this sector."@en1
