"The increase in flexibility from 20% to 37.5% in the non-road mobile machinery sector is certainly an initial, mandatory step in providing a prompt response to manufacturers. I think that at the time of a global crisis such as the one we are currently experiencing, which has also affected the non-road mobile machinery sector in particular, it was important to have a rapid response to the extension of flexibility from Stage IIIA to Stage IIIB. A complex issue such as reconciling the need for a lower environmental impact and lower carbon dioxide emissions with a real understanding of manufacturers’ needs has to be managed with efforts at concrete cooperation, including in legislation, between Member States. I voted for the report because, despite the difficulties ensuing from the requests for a more flexible system and the duty to provide an answer that would not invalidate efforts in this direction, I believe that, on the whole, it is a good compromise."@en1
