"In my statement, I would like to refer to one aspect of the document drafted by Mr Stavrakakis, namely, the building of a positive image for this agency, as well as for other agencies. The problems experienced by CEPOL and the European Medicines Agency in obtaining discharge have had a decidedly negative impact on the way that these agencies are perceived by us, the Members of the European Parliament, and also by European citizens. In my opinion, in order to regain public confidence, the European Medicines Agency should comply with all of the recommendations of the Court of Auditors.
At the same time, I would like to congratulate the agency on the efforts that it has made to improve its operations, namely, the implementation of the three recommendations resulting from the 2009 audit by the Internal Audit Service on Human Resources Management. These examples of the agency’s actions convinced me to vote in favour of the adoption of the report, and thus to grant discharge to the European Medicines Agency."@en1
