The passage on the economically most advantageous tender being used to select the contractor is important and recourse to online procedures and to electronic procurement is appropriate, while simplified access for small and medium-sized enterprises will undoubtedly provide an opportunity to make the most of such an important sector. Within the Committee on International Trade, we envisaged and specified that businesses and firms convicted of mafia association by a final court judgment should be excluded, whichever Member State they were convicted in. We hope that this measure will be included in the revision of the resulting directive."@en1
