"Mr President, I would like to request a roll-call vote for the final vote on the report on organised crime. My thanks go to all the shadow rapporteurs: Mr Iacolino, Mr Crocetta, Mr Albrecht, Mr de Jong, Mr Kirkhope, Ms Borsellino and Ms Costa, since they all made a decisive contribution to the drafting of the final report.
Mr President, ladies and gentlemen, relatives of mafia victims, judges and witnesses are here in the gallery. If Parliament adopts this report today, we will be giving due recognition, and be able to dedicate this work, to all the innocent victims of organised crime and mafias.
Their memory, the memory of those who paid with their lives for choosing not to give in to the foulness of moral compromise must guide us, and it compels us to send strong, unequivocal signals, such as the one I hope we are about to send to Europe’s citizens today."@en1
