"Mr President, today, a peaceful demonstration by members of the Coptic religious community is taking place in front of Parliament. As we all know, the Copts are one of the oldest Christian religious communities in existence. Following the bloodbath of 9 October in front of the Maspero building in Egypt, which is the sad peak of Christian persecution in Egypt so far, these Coptic Christians are calling for our help. They are issuing a call for help to Europe. They are issuing a call for help to the European Parliament. Too often we feel responsible for the whole world, yet a look outside the door today should convince us that we should be ready to help our brothers and sisters in Egypt, a Christian community that finds itself in distress."@en1
