"Mr President, Commissioner, today’s questions to the Commission on the Small Business Act show that there is a lot of work to be done in order to ensure that this segment of European enterprises can work in a truly growth-oriented market environment.
This segment of entrepreneurs have been hit the hardest by the economic crisis, by having their already scarce funding cut even further, especially where the start-up or innovative SMEs are concerned.
I think that the way out of the crisis for the EU greatly depends on how we support SMEs, which make up 99% of enterprises, and on how we improve the availability of resources that would guarantee their smooth operation. I support, for example, the SME test, and I support the simplification of administrative procedures."@en1
