"The motion for a resolution deals with an issue of great social importance, and one that we are certainly always aware of, yet it is one that we regrettably overlook, since it does not concern most of us directly on a daily basis. Therefore, I welcome the report on mobility and inclusion of people with disabilities. I hope that today’s debate will help remove a lot of the obstacles continually faced by disabled people in our societies. It is important to have a strategy, but it is of paramount importance to implement it. Removing restrictions as regards opportunities for disabled people to travel, providing them with access to new technologies and employment, and taking measures to prevent their social exclusion – these are but a few of the challenges we are facing today. I would like, therefore, to urge the European Commission to develop mechanisms for all Member States that would ensure equal opportunities for people with disabilities to achieve an active life and social integration."@en1
