"Madam President, among people with disabilities, those in the most difficult situation are those unable to move around by themselves. I am aware of one case in Poland of a person who cannot get about and is having huge problems obtaining a wheelchair because he has to pay some of the money towards the purchase himself and this is becoming impossible for him. It seems that our efforts, whether at European or national level, should be directed towards making it possible for such people to move around freely and not be confined to home. This should not be determined by any payments. Such a person should simply be entitled to move around freely.
I would like to congratulate the author and say I am glad that this very serious issue of people with disabilities is being discussed by Parliament and is an object of interest to the European Union."@en1
