lpv:translated text	"This report introduces new rules for monitoring the export of firearms for civilian use, such as small arms and those used by hunters or for sport shooting. This new legislation, which has been agreed with the EU Council of Ministers, establishes a uniform system within the European Union for the export of firearms from the Member States to third countries, with the aim of stepping up the fight against the illicit trafficking of firearms. It transposes Article 10 of the United Nations Protocol against the Illicit Manufacturing of and Trafficking in Firearms, Their Parts and Components and Ammunition into Union law. European exporters will have to obtain authorisation from a Member State in order to be able to export firearms, parts and ammunition to countries outside the EU. Export authorisation will only be granted if the importing country agrees, and if there is no objection by a transit country. I voted for this report for these reasons."@en1
