"Ms Beňová, when it comes to managing immigration flows, my country is no better than the other countries of the European Union, and it may even be worse. However, that is not the subject of this debate.
I think it is important that the rules are applied uniformly everywhere and that, when it comes to immigration, the European public should be very seriously concerned about excessive flows of illegal immigrants. We should properly ensure that all conditions are met with every new step that is made towards enlarging the Schengen area. It is the Member States that make decisions on this: the European Council and the Member States represented there. Those are the rules and those rules should, therefore, be respected."@en1
