"Mr President, ladies and gentlemen, as you rightly complained, the worsening situation in Egypt has affected the large minority of Coptic Christians in that country and poses a problem that also involves the legitimacy of, and our hopes for, the process of democratisation connected with the Arab Spring, namely, the re-constitutionalisation process in these countries.
It is precisely for that reason that we had hoped to have the opportunity to vote tomorrow through the resolution. However, we understand both the technical difficulties and the needs of the other groups to focus on drawing up a text. We ask that this text have as its pre-eminent and clear-cut object the situation of the Coptic Christians in Egypt, when the resolution is put to the vote in Strasbourg."@en1
