"Ladies and gentlemen, I would like to welcome a delegation from the Lebanese Parliament – Mr Kabbani, Mr Bazzi and Mr Pakradouinian.
The European Parliament attaches great importance to relations with Lebanon. Some of the European Union’s Member States have contributed military personnel to UNIFIL, the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon. Lebanon is also one of the few Arab states which have accepted a European Union election observation mission. This is very important to us. Parliament is actively involved in missions of this kind.
The European Parliament Delegation for relations with the Mashreq countries provides an institutional framework for political dialogue between our parliaments. I warmly encourage our three visitors to maintain this dialogue by regular contacts. I hope that the meetings held yesterday and today were fruitful and that the visit to Brussels of our guests from the Lebanese Parliament will actively contribute to closer relations between our institutions. Thank you once again for coming to Europe and for coming to the European Parliament."@en1
