"This resolution has the merit of calling for European Globalisation Adjustment Fund appropriations not to indirectly benefit multinationals. It insists that both sides of industry be involved in a range of tasks, from granting appropriations to assessing the measures taken and designing the services offered.
That is a good thing. However, this text revels in the logic of the Europe 2020 strategy, which is compounding the crisis – a crisis affecting the workers targeted by this fund more than anyone else. Repairing a fraction of the damage caused, moreover, is ineffective. This fund is nothing but a poor stopgap. I therefore abstained."@en1
