"Madam President, the support expressed by the EU for the Arab Spring has not materialised in terms of resettling the refugees from the area at the border between Tunisia and Libya. Member States must make further efforts to take charge of these people. I should mention the key role played by the emergency transit centre in Timişoara. This provides temporary accommodation for vulnerable refugees waiting to be resettled. As the first European facility of its kind, the centre has welcomed more than 730 persons so far. The first group of refugees from Libya arrived here in April. Originally from Eritrea, they suffered harsh treatment before reaching a camp in Tunisia. I support coordination between centres of this kind in Member States as a first step towards devising a European resettlement strategy."@en1
