Its closure, resulting from foreign competition and declining orders from its parent company in Germany has had serious social consequences – not least, long-term unemployment – that are still being felt in the aforementioned municipalities today. As a Portuguese, I am bound to support this proposal for a decision and I hope the European Globalisation Adjustment Fund will be mobilised as swiftly as possible, so as to help those eligible for its aid quickly. I hope they will be able to integrate into the labour market and will manage to overcome this difficult period."@en1
