"President Barroso, To put a positive spin on the multiple crises that the EU is currently experiencing is a seemingly impossible task. But you did your best. You told us that the answer to the Eurozone crisis is the issuing of Eurobonds. You know full well, however, that Germany has rejected the idea. Eurobonds are going nowhere. We hear much talk about the need to address the democratic deficit in the EU. But you spoke to a parliamentary chamber that appeared to be less than half full. Your speech should have inspired, and shown the way to salvation, but MEPs could not even be bothered to turn up and listen. So do not be surprised if the people of Europe fail to report to the polling booths in large numbers, or if the level of citizen engagement is low. We hear much talk of the Commission's environmental concerns and priorities, and yet we, our staff, and the press corps had to come all the way to Strasbourg, as we do 12 times a year, to hear a speech that you could have made in Brussels. President Barroso, the EU is drifting ever further away from reality."@en1
