"Mr President, Mr Barroso, I was reminded of the words of a Hungarian poet: ‘We are always late for everything.’ Your speech came late, Mr Barroso. Europe is as much hostage to extortion by financial and banking circles as it is to the indecisiveness and dilly-dallying of the European political elites. Where was the European Commission in August, Mr Barroso? Where was the European Parliament? We can criticise the Heads of State or Government, but at least they broke their holidays. Europe cannot be governed with such an attitude. It is unfortunate that the Members of the Group of the European People’s Party (Christian Democrats) postponed the final vote on the legislative ‘six pack.’ What would have been appropriate in June is no longer enough, it is now insufficient and more is needed. A policy of austerity is not enough, yet all the European right-wing, including the Hungarian right-wing can come up with is austerity. Without economic growth and job creation Europe will never break the shackles of debt."@en1
