"I do apologise, but I made this point about the blue-card questions last time. I do not think that they are intended to be used for personal cross-examinations, which tends to be the case. I think that it is rather sad that this is now happening within the same political groups and that the question that has just been asked does not relate to my comments, which I feel were a model of moderation, not to mention indicative of a desire to find compromises and make progress, and should have been applauded. I sometimes wonder whether, if we were to send some speakers from Parliament in person to negotiate in these countries, progress might be a little faster than it is at present. I have my doubts. So I do apologise, but I do not feel that the issue relates to the comments that I made. What is more, I am not certain that Baroness Ashton will want to respond to this question either."@en1
