lpv:translated text	"On 9 November 2010, the European Commission published its communication entitled ‘Trade, Growth and World Affairs’ on the European Union’s future trade strategy. This paper, which is supposed to set out the external aspects of the Europe 2020 strategy, is basically a continuation of the 2006 ‘Global Europe’ strategy. I agree with the rapporteur’s concern that the Commission communication sets us on the right track for the coming months, but does not offer a genuine strategy for the future. As such, he concludes the report with the need to call on the Commission to undertake a forward-looking study which takes into account the current realities of the world economy, the current situation of the European Union and probable future developments, in addition to a long-term strategy which fully addresses the needs of the European Union and of its citizens.
