Food security is fundamental and it is politically imperative that a coordinated global approach is adopted to address this challenge. The impact of the CAP on developing countries has reduced significantly in recent years, with export subsidies all but eliminated. I support calls on the Commission and the Council to work towards the implementation of innovative financial instruments, such as the introduction of an international tax on financial transactions, but such an initiative should be implemented on an international level and not on a regional basis only."@en1
