"14.2 million tourists visit my home constituency of London each year, spending in the region of GBP 8.2 billion annually. These figures are expected to rise when London hosts the Olympics next year. Promoting London as part of a common European label is foolishness; people come to London to see the unique sights and monuments which make it the most beautiful city in the world. Tourism promotion is clearly the responsibility of the Member States. I cannot support surrendering this sovereignty to the EU, especially when it generates such important income for the London economy."@en1
