"− Mr President, the Committee on Women’s Rights and Gender Equality considers that female entrepreneurship ensures business dynamism and innovation and helps to increase the female employment rate, which is one of the basic aims of the EU 2020 strategy. However, there is untapped female potential in the research and innovation sector. Female researchers experience discrimination, gender stereotypes, a ‘glass ceiling’ and ‘leaking pipeline’, insufficient funding and unequal opportunities for advancement. We are therefore calling for gender mainstreaming in the Common Strategic Framework and for proper funding of structural funds and cohesion policies, so that female researchers can develop innovative business plans, can participate in education and scientific programmes, have adequate mobility and can participate in networking platforms. Finally, we propose a gender equality action plan as part of the Common Strategic Framework, in order to guarantee a fairer allocation of funding on the basis of European Research Council research, indicators and information."@en1
