"This motion for a resolution calls on the European Commission to adopt a comprehensive approach in the fight against climate change, in other words, to include black carbon, HFCs, fluorinated gases and so on in its fight against climate change, as these gases also have an effect on the climate. However, I spoke during the sitting to make two key points: firstly, yes, we must also prepare to act against these gases with climatic consequences similar to those of CO
. Secondly, no the time is not yet ripe for action on this issue: it is essential to allow our industry to breathe and to adapt. I believe that, despite everything, this resolution is a useful indication to the international community of the European Parliament’s determination in the face of the climate challenges. More than ever, especially as regards environmental issues, government is all about planning."@en1
