lpv:translated text	"This proposal for a regulation – the Regulation on Energy Market Integrity and Transparency (REMIT) – establishes an EU-wide legal framework to prevent market abuse and manipulation in the gas and electricity sector. With the adoption of this report we are concerned with consumer protection in the energy market, introducing a regulation for the integrity of the energy market and transparency to guarantee correct behaviour in the wholesale energy market. It is our duty to protect consumers and ensure that the final price they pay is fair. We cannot talk about consumer protection without a more transparent internal market. The energy market cannot be based on inside information or dominated by monopolies. As such, I agree with the introduction of penalties for possible harm caused to consumers. I therefore welcome the adoption of this regulation, which will contribute to the creation of an internal energy market."@en1
