".
For some time I have consistently abstained from the vote on the European Globalisation Adjustment Fund (EGF). As I support the idea behind the EGF, I cannot simply reject any of the applications. However, during the course of my work in the Committee on Budgets, I have come across applications that give me reason to suspect that the regulations governing the EGF are too relaxed. I have therefore spoken out in favour of revising these regulations many times and have set this revision as a condition for my voting in favour of new applications in the future. For the first time, this report includes such a call within the text. More specifically, the Commission is called on to present a comparative evaluation of these data in its annual reports. Nevertheless, I have once again abstained from the vote today until the corresponding evaluation is available."@en1
