"Fuel cells and hydrogen (FCH) technologies are long-term energy options that can be used in various sectors of the economy and offer a broad range of benefits for energy security, transport, the environment and resource efficiency. They play a key role in attaining the goal to reduce greenhouse gases by more than 85% before 2050 and indeed, are used in various aspects of day-to-day life: from laptop and mobile phone batteries to transport, where they already represent a viable alternative to conventional internal combustion engine vehicles. We therefore need to bolster our economic and legislative efforts to break down the substantial barriers that continue to obstruct the full development of these technologies and their generalised sale. I voted in favour of the report by Mr Reul for these very reasons."@en1
