lpv:translated text	"I am glad that, following lengthy negotiations, it has been possible to reach an agreement with Norway and Iceland on judicial cooperation in criminal matters and surrender procedures. The parties concluding this agreement have expressed their mutual confidence in the structure and functioning of their legal systems and in the ability to guarantee a fair trial. I welcome this resolution because, once it has entered into force, the agreement will improve the surrender procedure for the purpose of prosecution or execution of sentence. In accordance with the provisions of the agreement, the extradition system will be based on a mechanism of surrender pursuant to an arrest warrant. I believe that this agreement will improve judicial cooperation in criminal matters without prejudice to the rules protecting individual freedom, and that an environment will be created for closer cooperation in combating crime."@en1
