According to figures from the Directorate-General for Trade of the European Commission, the EU has so far entered into some 200 bilateral agreements – a sign of the desire to strengthen European commercial policy in many areas around the world. In the agriculture and foodstuffs sector, hence, in the case in question, the agreement between the EU and Switzerland together with initiatives to protect origin marking and geographical indications of agricultural products and foodstuffs assumes particular significance."@en1
