lpv:translated text	"I voted in favour of this report because with it, the European Parliament consents to the conclusion of an agreement between the European Union and the Swiss Confederation on the protection of designations of origin and geographical indications for agricultural products and foodstuffs. This agreement is particularly important for the European Union – Switzerland is the third biggest export market for the EU’s agricultural products. Therefore, the conditions and terms of the bilateral commercial relations must constantly be improved and updated. The agreement on trade in agricultural products was concluded in 1999 and has been in force since 2002. It has not created totally free agricultural trade but has only led to a partial liberalisation for some agricultural sectors. With the signing of this new annex, both contracting parties aim to ensure mutual recognition of protected designations of origin and protected geographical indications in order to maintain the conditions of bilateral trade in agricultural products and, at the same time, improve the quality of the food chain. This agreement is very important and long-awaited because until now, the bilateral agreement with the Swiss Confederation only established protection for the designation of origin of wines and spirits."@en1
