Some of them are no longer relevant because they were temporary or their content was duplicated in other legal acts. Other legal acts contained transitional measures to be applied to the new Member States prior to becoming EU Members. Although technically these are still in force, they no longer have a practical effect. The European Parliament, the Council and the Commission agreed in their interinstitutional agreement on better law making that Community law should be updated and condensed by repealing acts which are no longer applied, thus giving the and all parties concerned greater clarity, transparency and simplicity."@en1
