"Mr President, ladies and gentlemen, in a global market characterised by high price volatility and the ever greater impact of finance on the markets, I can only welcome the creation of a European strategic framework for raw materials.
I welcome the fact that, with today’s vote, we have identified the need for more transparency in the financial markets with regard to raw materials and, at the same time, that we have paid a great deal of attention to the supply problems faced by small and medium-sized enterprises and to measures in this area that can help increase their competitiveness.
I think it is crucially important that emphasis has been placed on the requirement for trade agreements with non-EU countries to include explicit clauses on the protection of human rights and corporate social responsibility."@en1
