"Madam President, the European Union is right in wanting to develop women entrepreneurship by cofinancing innovative small and medium-sized enterprises with micro-credits. However, it is time to up the ante. Apart from the need to combat gender inequalities and reconcile family and professional obligations, emphasis needs to be placed on economic support and training for women entrepreneurs under business guidance programmes at the start of and during their business activities, on familiarising them with new information and communication technologies – because they open new horizons and opportunities for innovative employment – and, finally, on including special programmes and activities in school and university curricula and highlighting positive standards to stimulate self-confidence and develop business activity."@en1
