"Madam President, I wish to congratulate the rapporteur on this particularly important report for Black Sea fisheries.
I regard it as important for Romania, as a European Union Member State bordering this sea, to take an active part in developing the common fisheries policy, which is an important element at a time when the European Union is the second largest fishing power in the world, after China. In fact, Romania has a direct interest in the principles and action guidelines of this policy being applied to the Black Sea too, and especially in them being compatible with the specific regional features of the European Union states bordering the Black Sea.
In this context, in terms of future funding, I think that, in order to fulfil the commitments it has taken on, Romania is interested in retaining a coherent financial instrument in the fisheries and aquaculture sector. To achieve this, a differential approach is required to providing support, in keeping with the convergence criterion and by giving greater consideration to specific regional features."@en1
