lpv:translated text	"I was the shadow rapporteur of the Group of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats in the European Parliament for the proposal for a decision of the European Parliament and of the Council on the European Year for Active Ageing (2012). The aim of the proposed initiative is to support and encourage the efforts of Member States, local authorities, social partners and civil society to promote active ageing and do more to tap the potential of the over-50s population group. The European Year should therefore provide a framework for raising public awareness, for identifying and disseminating good practice and, most importantly, for encouraging policymakers and stakeholders at all levels to promote active ageing, social inclusion and the effective use of the experience of older workers."@en1
