"I am voting for this report because I believe ‘security scanner’ is the generic term used for a technology capable of detecting metallic and non-metallic objects transported in clothing, taking into account that detection performance lies in the scanner’s ability to detect banned objects hidden in the inspected person’s clothing. I welcome the fact that the European Commission has consulted the European Data Protection Supervisor, the Article 29 Working Party and the European Fundamental Rights Agency, and that their replies contain significant elements regarding the necessary conditions under which the use of security scanners at airports could comply with the protection of fundamental rights."@en1
