"In order to effectively control this disease, it is essential to carry out checks on feed and food, as well as on other related issues, such as high levels of dioxin and mechanically separated meat. Consumer protection, animal health and the eradication of Transmissible Spongiform Encephalopathies (TSE) will always be the main objectives and of crucial importance when changes to the existing rules are being contemplated. As a result, it is important that the Commission and Member States continue to closely monitor the development of TSE, in case of a resurgence of bovine spongiform encephalopathy."@en1
