I believe it is important that the approved text refers to the measures set out in the 1995 Data Protection Directive, which, for various reasons, are still yet to be fully implemented in the Member States: I refer, in particular, to the transparency principle and to the purpose limitation principle. Thanks to the text on which we voted today, the new data protection regime should, in addition to reducing bureaucratic and financial burdens, lead to a more careful assessment of the application of several rules relating to small enterprises."@en1
